Simon Okoth, Ph.D. is a Kenyan-born author, speaker, and professor at Virginia Commonwealth University, with expertise in public policy, water rights, and governance. Dr. Okoth is the author of Responding to Black Swans: Why Ordinary Citizens Matter, a critically acclaimed work exploring geopolitics and water rights in the Middle East and North Africa. He is also a sought-after speaker, engaging audiences on topics including public administration, climate policy, and global equity.
Dr. Okoth’s extensive academic career spans teaching roles in Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, where he coordinated public administration programs. His published research reflects a deep commitment to advancing knowledge in governance and policy, with works addressing emergency response and corruption in developing countries. His ability to connect with diverse audiences makes him a valuable resource for conferences, panels, and academic forums.
In addition to his academic work, Dr. Okoth serves as the U.S.-Kenya Liaison and H.O.P.E. Director for Hope Academy and College, an initiative in Kenya that provides education in hardware, operating systems, and programming to empower young girls and lift them out of poverty.
